Strong Like Moms

July 12 - 20

Every day, Moms & Dads, Aunts, Uncles, and Grandparents wake up and put others before themselves. They clean up, make meals, manage schedules, and go to work all to help others. Caregivers are wonderful examples who are able to model responsibility, caring, and strength to kids. But most children simply take their efforts for granted and never notice their Caregivers' hard work - even when they live together in the same home! This Summer, our new Super Speakers course will help kids see the value of some of the best role models they'll ever have: their Caregivers. Students will go back in time to when they were babies and discover their families' experiences caring for a newborn. They will study parenthood to explore the commitment and responsibility that it takes to always put your child's needs before your own. They will research solutions to parenting problems, learn planning, negotiating, and giving and receiving advice, all while building their English reading, writing, and presenting skills. Help your child to see what it takes to be strong like Moms!

Super Students, School Companion

August 7 - December 18

Students is a weekly check-in and support class for students. Each week we focus on skills that students will need as they tackle a new school year. We start with learning how to meet new people and make a great first impression, then focus on organizational, homework, and test-taking skills. Students share their weekly school experiences and support one another with friendship and advice throughout the term.

If life gives you lemons, make lemonade!

Transitions is a course that teaches kids of all ages the skills they need to deal with adversity.  Students are challenged to use their English reading, writing, and speaking skills as they learn to analyze situations, plan for for the unexpected, adapt to changing circumstances, and identify and manage their emotions. Kids and parents learn a dialogue for working through difficulties and to become masters at handling change.

Powerful Presentations

Next Session To Be Scheduled

Powerful Presentations, the original Super Speakers Course, uses fun lessons and engaging activities to guide students through their very own research project.  We plan, research, write, design presentations, and perform them throughout five high-energy classes.  Students' final presentations are recorded and sent home as a keepsake and as material they can use to show their skills.

Campfire Stories

Next Session To Be Scheduled

Campfire stories takes students on a journey exploring the ancient tradition of oral storytelling. We study the earliest forms of story including myths, fables, and fairytales. Students will practice reading, writing, and presenting these forms. As our final course project, students will research their own family histories to create their own, traditional campfire story to share with the class.
